    • Tyndall leads the way in Air Force eco-conscious fire protection

      In 2024, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, became the first Air Force installation to transition to the fluorine-free foam within its fire departments, effectively replacing the aqueous film-forming foam that contained Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances. The new foam is a primary component of a Department of Defense-wide effort to phase out PFAS-containing AFFF from land-based firefighting equipment.

    • Ready Tiger 24-1 showcases airpower projection at dispersed locations

      The 23rd Wing conducted a comprehensive exercise aimed at demonstrating its prowess in planning, preparing, and executing operations and maintenance to project airpower in contested and dispersed locations, April 8-18, 2024.
      U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 51st Combat Communications Squadron assemble a ground antenna transmit and receive (GATR) ball at Avon Park Air Force Range, Florida, April 9, 2024. The GATR ball was used during Exercise Ready Tiger 24-1 to provide personnel at Avon Park with Secret Internet Protocol Router network and Non-classified Internet Protocol Router network capabilities. The Ready Tiger 24-1 exercise evaluators will assess the 23rd Wing's proficiency in employing decentralized command and control to fulfill air tasking orders across geographically dispersed areas amid communication challenges.     • Grit and Gears: Maintainer Resilience

      The 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron developed a self-care day called “Mindful Maintainer” that occurs every Friday to help maintainers enhance their resiliency and foster connections. Airmen rotate through the program weekly with activities coordinated by integrated resiliency training assistants who run the course. The sessions focus on strengthening maintainers’ communication skills and stress management.

Sean Choquette released the fiscal year 2023 Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Staff Safety Awards, as well as the Air and Space Forces Chief of Safety Awards. The awards included the Major General Benjamin D. Foulois Memorial Award winner -- Air Combat Command. The award recognizes the MAJCOM/FLDCOM/DRU/FOA with the most effective flight safety program.
